Café Assistant (Part-Time)

Position Summary:
The Café Assistant supports the daily operations of the café by providing excellent customer service, preparing beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role plays an important part in creating a warm, hospitable space where guests and church members can connect and feel valued. The Café Assistant also assists with setup and cleanup and contributes to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.

Schedule:
Part-time; primarily Sundays and Wednesday evenings (hours may vary based on operational needs).

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and serve guests in a friendly, welcoming, and hospitable manner
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle transactions accurately
Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, and other menu items according to established standards
Restock food items, beverages, and supplies as needed throughout shifts
Assist with inventory organization and notify leadership of low stock levels
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, equipment, and seating areas
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setup and breakdown of the café
Work collaboratively with team members and volunteers to ensure smooth and efficient operations
Support the overall mission and values of the organization through a spirit of service and excellence

Qualifications:

Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Dependable and punctual, especially for scheduled Sunday and Wednesday shifts
Ability to handle cash and basic math transactions accurately
Previous barista or food service experience preferred, but not required
Alignment with the mission and values of the organization

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as preparing drinks and restocking items
